Andy Zaltzman: satire with a sporting twist

Acclaimed stand-up Andy Zaltzman returns to the West Midlands this October with a new show, packed with his trademark political comedy and copious sports references. Perhaps best known as one half of The Bugle podcast, which he writes and hosts with long-time writing partner John Oliver, the cricket fan and history enthusiast has dates lined up in Birmingham and Coventry.

Zaltzman, now a Radio 4 veteran, has just enjoyed a successful run at the Edinburgh Fringe, doing a solo show and also the acclaimed Fuckstorm 3000 with Daniel Kitson and Alun Cochrane. Now he’s taking current show Satirist For Hire on the road for a UK tour this show with a difference.

Taking an interactive approach this time around, Zaltzman’s current show sees him asking audience members to contact him before the gig with suggestions for topics they’d like to see him satirise. If there’s something you’d like to see him apply his sharp, satirical wit to, email suggestions to satirisethis@satiristforhire.com with your name, the date of the show you’re attending, and your chosen topic.

Andy Zaltzman is at Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry on Friday October 3rd and at Birmingham’s Glee Club on Friday October 17th. Don’t forget to email satirisethis@satiristforhire.com with your suggestions for topics for Andy to satirise.
